Community Service

Community service activities encompass the services provided by the Institute for the benefit of society, whether on a voluntary basis or in response to requests from various entities. This is achieved through direct engagement with diverse community groups and by supporting them through the development of a comprehensive vision of society’s needs and expectations from the Institute.

The Institute is particularly committed to promoting awareness and knowledge among different segments of society, including political parties and non-governmental organizations, regarding current and future issues related to planning and development. It also seeks to enhance community participation in the cultural, social, and scientific activities it organizes.

Community service has been a core function of the Institute since its establishment. It provides these services to state institutions through its educational and training programs in the fields of planning and development. In recognition of the importance of this role, community service responsibilities have been formally assigned to the Vice President for Training, Consultancy, and Community Service.

Among the most prominent community service initiatives launched since the 1990s are the activities undertaken by the Gender Planning and Policy Unit. These included the organization of training courses and workshops across various governorates, addressing gender issues and the role of women in different areas of development.

Objectives of Community Service Activities

The Community Service Program aims to deliver innovative societal services grounded in the Institute’s research expertise and to leverage this expertise in serving local communities and government institutions. This contributes to capacity building, raising awareness, and fostering a society better prepared to address development challenges, through the following:

  • Integrating the community dimension into the Institute’s research and development mission.
  • Disseminating economic and social knowledge among students and various community institutions.
  • Building youth capacities in planning and development fields.
  • Implementing development initiatives that serve local communities.
  • Raising awareness of national priority issues, such as the environment, population, the economy, and digital transformation.
  • Supporting government efforts to promote a culture of sustainable development.
  • Expanding voluntary participation within the Institute.
