The Institute of National Planning is organizing an international conference on “Health and Sustainable Development” in collaboration with School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University – SIPA/Columbia, taking place in Cairo by end of June 2024. The conference aims to discuss the relationship between health and sustainable development and to examine the most significant challenges facing the healthcare systems in various countries. In addition, the conference reviews and analyzes the most prominent international and regional experiences and practices related to the management and finance of healthcare systems, and it evaluates the main roles in the healthcare sector. Furthermore, the conference analyzes the status of the Egyptian healthcare sector , examining its relation to sustainable development and social welfare. As such, alternative policies and measures that enhance and support the sustainability, efficiency, and flexibility of healthcare systems will be deduced.
The topics presented at the conference are classified into four main themes, each discusses a range of issues as follows:
- First Theme: Role of Health in Supporting Sustainable Development Methodological Issues and International Experiences
- Second Theme: Economics of Health and Healthcare Health Sector Financing and Investment
- Third Theme: Governance of Health Sector to Support its Role in Achieving Sustainable Development
- Fourth Theme: Health and Sustainable Development in Egypt
