The Institute of National Planning (INP) is preparing to host its annual international conference on “Innovation and Sustainable Development” in collaboration with Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) on June 24-25, 2025. This high-level event comes at a critical juncture as Egypt advances its strategic priorities for innovation-led growth under Vision 2030.
Professor Ashraf Al-Araby, President of INP, emphasized that the conference reflects Egypt’s commitment to implementing its National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research, as well as the National Policy for Sustainable Innovation. “This gathering will serve as a vital platform for knowledge exchange between policymakers, academics, and industry leaders to strengthen innovative ecosystems for sustainable development,” he stated. The conference will conduct a comprehensive assessment of Egypt’s innovation landscape, identify systemic challenges, and analyze international best practices to inform policy development.
Organized around four thematic pillars, the conference themes are:
- Diagnostic Assessment: Evaluating Egypt’s national innovation landscape and its alignment with sustainable development goals
- Innovation as a Catalyst: Strategies to leverage innovation for sustainable development
- National Case Studies: Showcasing Egyptian innovation applications across productive sectors
- Global Lessons: Comparative analysis of international governance models for innovation-driven development
Technical sessions will explore cutting-edge topics including green innovation, financial technology solutions, competitive research funding mechanisms, and the integration of emerging technologies into responsible business models.
The conference expects to convene a distinguished audience comprising current and former cabinet ministers, senior government officials, leading academics from Egyptian and international institutions, as well as representatives from multilateral organizations and private sector innovation leaders. Through evidence-based discussions and policy roundtables, the event aims to produce actionable recommendations to enhance the governance and effectiveness of Egypt’s innovation ecosystem while fostering strategic partnerships between research institutions, industry, and policymakers.
