Overview of the Center’s Activities

The Industrial Planning and Development Center is one of the core scientific centers of the National Planning Institute. Its activities focus on supporting planners, decision-makers, and policymakers with regard to industrial development issues in Egypt, in light of global, regional, and local developments. These developments include sustainable industrialization, the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and deepening local manufacturing, as well as their implications for the Egyptian industrial sector on the one hand and for all other development sectors in the State on the other.

The Center also seeks to strengthen its relationships with all partners and stakeholders in the industrial sector in Egypt, whether governmental or non-governmental, in addition to managers of industrial projects in both the public and private business sectors, as well as international institutions concerned with industrial development. The Center works jointly with all relevant parties to improve Egypt’s competitive industrial opportunities at the local, regional, and global levels. It also aims to develop tools and methods for evaluating the feasibility and management of industrial projects, selecting and adapting appropriate technologies, and enhancing the capabilities and skills of the industrial workforce.

Furthermore, the Center places special emphasis on the development of small, medium, and micro industrial enterprises, and on promoting entrepreneurship in industrial activities. It also directs its research and practical efforts toward issues related to deepening local manufacturing and prioritizing national industrial sectors in this regard, in light of international experiences.

Fields of Work of the Center

The Center’s main fields of work focus on studying industrial development issues to support planning and development activities, and to support decision-making at various levels. This includes the management and evaluation of industrial and service projects, the advancement of the productive services sector, and the development of small and medium-sized enterprises to support planning activities and decision-making. In addition, the Center plays a role in implementing social responsibility activities that are consistent with its main fields of work.
